Friday: The Red Bull drivers saved their tires like the others

Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber did little driving today in the rain at Interlagos to preserve tires for the next two days if conditions remain the same. Nevertheless, the Red Bull drivers are quite happy with the work done.

Friday: The Red Bull drivers saved their tires like the others

Sebastian Vettel – 3rd and 2nd:

We knew it was going to rain today and that it could be complicated. The main loss due to the rain is that we didn’t test the 2014 tires. Few drivers went out this afternoon to save tires for the weekend – it’s a bit of a shame for those who were in the stands, but unfortunately that’s how it is. Come Saturday and Sunday, we might need these available tires. It was good to have a strong base in these conditions; we need to be strong over the next two days and make the right decisions.

Mark Webber – 6th and 3rd:

« We worked on understanding the tires today, we used the wet and intermediate tires on the car and did quite a few laps considering that most drivers only used one set of intermediates. It was a productive day in preparation for tomorrow, as we expect new rainy conditions. We need to understand the intermediates on long and short stints and also try to save the tires, so it has been a testing day for all teams, but overall we got out of it what we could. »
