Saturday: Disappointment at Lotus
Lotus had hoped to aim for the pole position with Romain Grosjean. However, the tire choice in Q3 might not have been the right one, and Romain Grosjean had to settle for 6th place. As for Heikki Kovalainen, he couldn't do better than 11th.
Romain Grosjean – 2nd and 6th
« The afternoon was quite difficult. During the last phase, it was complicated to decide which tires to use. We wanted to go for the pole, so we used intermediates. But in the end, there was probably a bit too much water, which made things interesting. In the end, my lap wasn’t good enough, but the car has performed well all weekend, so we are confident for the race, whatever the weather. My lap in Q2 was very good and we know we have an excellent baseline setup for the dry, so let’s see how it turns out. »
Heikki Kovalainen – 3rd and 11th
« It’s a disappointment not to make it into the top ten, but I wasn’t performing well enough in the second phase. It’s as simple as that. The conditions weren’t ideal, but they were the same for everyone. The car had no problems, so I can’t complain. My starting position won’t be ideal, but the car is performing well and anything can happen in motorsport, especially at Interlagos. So we will study the areas where we can improve something for tomorrow and we will try to do better in the race. »
