Sunday: No Force India in the points
While both Sahara Force India drivers were aiming for points before the race, neither succeeded. Adrian Sutil suffered from heavy tire wear and had to pit three times, which cost him dearly. Paul di Resta, on the other hand, made a mistake at the start where he lost many places, which proved to be crucial later on.
Paul di Resta – 11th:
« The light rain made the race complicated, but it was also very enjoyable with lots of overtaking. Losing six places off track with too much wheelspin was a key moment and it really set us back, but the car’s performance in the race was consistent and we managed to complete a two-stop race. We chose to extend each stint but I suffered in terms of performance with the hard tires at the end and I wasn’t able to compete with Ricciardo for the last point. However, I think we can leave here quite satisfied with what we achieved today and this year as a whole. Even though I missed out on 10th place in the [drivers’] championship, it has been a successful year, an incredible journey, and I want to say a big thank you to the team for the work done this year. »
Adrian Sutil – 13th:
« It was a tough last race and I was really hoping for a few points, but it just wasn’t possible today. It rained for most of the race, while I was convinced that the track would remain mostly dry. The main problem for me was tire wear because we had to stop three times, which made it difficult for the points. In the last laps, I was catching up with the train of cars in front of me, but I wasn’t close enough to change my position. It has been a season with ups and downs, but I will always remember the positives and the fact that the team is once again in 6th place in the championship, which is a great effort from everyone. »
