Xevi Pujolar new race engineer for Vergne in 2014

Xevi Pujolar, who held the position of chief race engineer with the Williams team in 2013, left the Grove-based team a few weeks ago to join Scuderia Toro Rosso. The Spaniard will be working with Jean-Eric Vergne, as the Frenchman revealed on the Italian team’s website.

This week is the first time I work with my new [physical] trainer, Juuso. Surprise, surprise, he’s another Finn and Antti [his former physio, editor’s note], who has worked with me since my debut in F1, was there with us the first few days for the handover! There have been other changes in the professional group around me, especially since I will have a new race engineer, Francisco Javier Pujolar, because my former one, Phil Charles, is moving to the role of chief engineer this year, Vergne revealed.

In order to be in top physical shape for the 2014 Formula 1 season, JEV was indeed in Chamonix this week, notably with the FFSA French team, even though he went his own way this time: « Jules Bianchi is here, along with many other French karting and single-seater drivers. I’ve come to Chamonix with them for the past six years, although aside from climbing with them on the first day, I’m doing my own program this time. »
