Alonso and Hamilton the highest paid in 2014
Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) will be the highest-paid drivers this year, according to a survey by The Richest. The two former McLaren teammates will each earn 20 million euros.
Four-time world champion, but not the highest paid. In the salary hierarchy, German Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) has to “settle” for third place – behind Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, who were already at the top of this ranking – with 16 million euros, the same as the 2009 world champion Jenson Button (McLaren). Kimi Räikkönen, returning to Ferrari, will be paid half as much as his teammate Alonso, with ten million euros. This is the same salary the Finn received with the Scuderia in 2009, the last world champion with the Maranello team in 2007.
The newcomer at Red Bull, Daniel Ricciardo, will earn 2.5 million euros for his first season at Red Bull. Sergio Perez (Force India) will receive 2 million euros, slightly more than the salary reported at McLaren last season. The first French driver, Romain Grosjean (Lotus), is tenth with a salary of 1.5 million euros. *The Richest* has not disclosed the salaries of the other drivers.
It should be noted, however, that only the salaries paid to the drivers by the teams have been taken into account in this ranking. Advertising and additional income have not been included.
