Friday: Bianchi and Chilton make progress with Marussia
Marussia continues its steady progress thanks to the diligent work of Jules Bianchi and Max Chilton. All things considered, the Russian team is having a good start to the weekend.
Jules Bianchi (No.17) – 16th and 19th
The Frenchman is satisfied with his first two sessions: « We worked well on aero options for the rest of the weekend as well as more generally on the ERS to improve in anticipation of qualifying and the race. »
He hopes for a good result on Sunday: « If we stay on the right track, we could have a positive race. We haven’t experienced any major issues, which is a good thing from a reliability standpoint. »
Max Chilton (no. 4) – 18th and 18th
The Englishman thinks the MR03 has an interesting margin of progress: « It was nice to be back behind the wheel. We’ve learned so much from the heaps of data we collected in Melbourne, and there is so much development potential for the car that it’s good to start applying it on the track. »
He faced some setbacks but remains generally satisfied with the work done: « I spun out during my installation lap but we were able to get back on track quickly and do quite a few laps, so we managed quite well. There’s still a lot of work to be done to improve the car’s balance, but we’ve made good progress on the checklist. »
