Saturday: Grosjean sends Lotus into Q2 but hoped for more
The Lotus team is experiencing a slight improvement. On Romain Grosjean's side, there was even a glimpse of performance as he made it to Q2. Pastor Maldonado was able to drive without too many problems.
Romain Grosjean (No. 8) – 15th and 16th [15th on the grid]
The Franco-Swiss was pleasantly surprised by his result: « It was really a good surprise to reach Q2 today, and I think we had the potential to reach Q3, without a communication problem at the end of the session when I should have come in to change tires. »
Philosopher, he takes each thing in its own time while trying to stay positive: « It’s clear that we have made good progress and haven’t had many problems. We need to continue like this. We’ve tried several different things, some worked, others didn’t. We hope everything will work well tomorrow and we’ll see from there. »
Pastor Maldonado (No. 13) – 16th and 17th [16th on the grid]
The Venezuelan driver considers himself unlucky in the rain lottery: « I was on a good fast lap when the red flag came out, and if I had been able to finish my lap, I would certainly have improved my position. »
But he tries to stay positive: « The car runs quite well, there were no problems today, which is very good. We are very happy, and hopefully, it’s a big step forward, and we can start focusing on performance from there. »
