Saturday: Force India in Q3 with Hülkenberg, Pérez very far behind
The two cars of the Indian team are experiencing balance issues this weekend, particularly in the rain. Only Nico Hülkenberg managed to finish in the top 10, as Sergio Pérez was unable to resolve the situation in the wet.
Nico Hülkenberg (#27) – 4th and 8th
In difficult conditions, the German driver is satisfied with his position on the grid: « We always aim for a top 10 result in qualifying, so from that perspective, I’m happy to be eighth. It was very wet, and I had some difficulty with braking balance, but all in all, I believe we are in a good starting position for the race. »
He thinks the race will be interesting: « The weather should improve tomorrow and we ran on dry conditions on Friday so we know what to expect and we will adapt to any conditions… Graining is a classic on this track, but I am certain we can work around this issue to make the tires last. »
Sergio Pérez (No. 11) – 10th and 16th
The author of the Bahrain podium will have a hard time repeating this performance. His car has been uncooperative since Friday: « It wasn’t an easy session and truthfully, I’ve been struggling with the car’s balance since the start of the weekend. I think the damp conditions have amplified these issues, leaving me in P16 and a bit disappointed. I’m having trouble getting the tires up to temperature and was sliding in every corner, especially under braking. »
He remains motivated to finish in the top 10 in the race: « The weather forecast is better for tomorrow and I’m certain I can make up ground to fight for the points. »
