Friday: Not a good day for Kobayashi and Caterham

Kamui Kobayashi and Marcus Ericsson did not have a good day in Barcelona today. The two Caterham drivers' Formula 1 cars were difficult to drive due to a severe lack of grip. However, optimism is necessary for the rest of the weekend.

Friday: Not a good day for Kobayashi and Caterham

Kamui Kobayashi (No. 10) – 21st and 20th

The Japanese driver struggled with the tires provided by Pirelli for this Spanish Grand Prix, as the Caterham lacked grip: « It was a complicated day for us, with a lack of grip that prevented us from getting anything good out of the car in both sessions. We used most of FP1 for aerodynamic testing, trying out the new parts brought here and also starting work on the setup, but with the grip issue, I wasn’t really able to complete a single good lap. And it was the same during free practice 2. »

Marcus Ericsson (No. 9) – 22nd and 21st

Same feeling of despair for Marcus Ericsson: « Like Kamui, for me both practice sessions were dominated by a cruel lack of grip. I was never able to fully push because the car shifted from oversteer to understeer throughout the lap – to be honest, it was a bit like driving on ice, which is not what we want. »

But the Swede remains confident for the rest of the Spanish weekend: « I am certain we will bounce back tomorrow. Despite today’s handling issues, we covered many laps so we have a lot of data to analyze. »
