A Johnnie Walker livery for McLaren in Monaco

After Mobil 1, Esso, SAP, and Gulf Air, it is the turn of a new sponsor to benefit from increased visibility during a Formula 1 Grand Prix with McLaren. In Monaco, the Woking team will feature a unique livery showcasing the spirits brand Johnnie Walker.

On the occasion of the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend, the Johnnie Walker logo will be more prominently displayed than usual on the MP4-29 as well as on the suits of Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen. In addition to promoting the partnership between the two entities, the objective will also be to promote the campaign against drinking and driving.

This season, the British team does not have a title sponsor and relies on this type of exposure during a Grand Prix with its usual partners, and things could continue according to the Italian press, which mentions a 2014 season without a title sponsor for McLaren.

Following Vodafone’s departure at the end of last season, the Woking team’s management is looking to attract a title sponsor, but so far all discussions have been unproductive. The latest reports indicate talks with the Japanese brand Rakusen, but this has not proven fruitful, and the Japanese brand could ultimately partner with Lotus.
