45,000 tickets soon on sale in Sochi
As of now, Sochi is the last Grand Prix of the current season that has not yet opened its ticket sales. This will be done starting from May 30th, with 45,000 tickets available for purchase.
The local organizers are therefore increasing positive messages about the Russian Grand Prix to avoid any impression that the Ukrainian crisis could negatively impact the staging of the first Formula 1 Grand Prix in the Olympic city.
Last week, Sergey Vorobyev, in charge since last March, wanted to reassure about the progress of the work: « We have entered an active phase of construction. We are working on the interior of the buildings for the teams, the pits, and the stands. We are preparing the final layer of asphalt which will soon be completed. We are confident that the circuit will be ready by August. »
Today, he wanted to be reassuring about the upcoming sale of tickets to the general public: « During the pre-order period, we received more than 30,000 requests. The demand should therefore be strong. Russia has done a lot to host Formula 1. There are only a few months left to wait. I am convinced that the show will be on point. »
In total, 45,000 tickets will be available. However, the majority of these tickets will be in temporary stands, which can accommodate nearly 23,000 people. The permanent infrastructures are divided between the 8,000 seats in the pit straight and the 7,000 in the Bolshoi Ice Dome. To this general public offer, we must also add the 3,000 tickets reserved for various VIPs, not to mention the 5,000 privileged individuals who will have access to the prestigious Paddock Club.
Remains to be seen how many seats will truly be filled. And by whom?
