Thursday: Hülkenberg and Force India Focused on Qualifying
On a circuit as short and narrow as Monaco, overtaking is difficult, and Nico Hülkenberg and the Sahara Force India team know this well, so they have decided to focus on qualifying this weekend. Sergio Pérez is even aiming for a spot in Q3.
Nico Hülkenberg (No. 27) – 10th and 7th
The German is satisfied with his day and will keep a keen eye on Saturday, as the qualifications are his main focus: « The rain did not allow for much driving this afternoon, but I feel that we made the most of the available time this morning. In terms of performance, the car is good and we need a few setup changes and to work on the balance before Saturday. Our focus must be on qualifying here because it is even more important than any other circuit. So we need to optimize the car to be ready for Saturday. »
Sergio Perez (No. 11) – 8th and 6th
The Mexican is pleased with these initial tests despite the weather: « The day was disrupted by the weather, so the work done was quite limited. »
He remains optimistic for the rest of the Monaco weekend: “I feel quite happy with the car, and we’ve been in the top 8 all day, so that’s positive. That’s what we need to aim for on Saturday because qualifying well here is so important.”
