Thursday: Bottas shows the performance of the Williams
Valtteri Bottas showed that the Williams was competitive in the streets of Monaco, even though there is still much to do. Felipe Massa, on the other hand, encountered several problems but remains optimistic with the performance of his Finnish teammate.
Valtteri Bottas (No. 77) – 7th and 5th
Everything is not perfect for the Finn, but things have started well in the Principality: « We can still make some improvements to be faster and the rain didn’t help this afternoon, but we have good data to work from. Saturday will be vital to set up the car in the morning and of course, qualifying well in Monaco is key to having a good weekend. »
Felipe Massa (No. 19) – 16th and 16th
Things were much more complicated for his Brazilian teammate: « It was a difficult day. I had issues this morning with a power unit sensor, which limited my running, or at least my ability to attack. This afternoon, it was raining, and I only went out at the end of the session, then I struggled with traffic. »
But Massa is optimistic due to Bottas’s performances: The car is fast and Valtteri has shown it, so qualifying on Saturday will be very important.
