Saturday: Williams drivers will aim for points in Monaco

Even if they will start outside the top 10, Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas fully intend to place their Williams FW36 in the points tomorrow at the end of the 2014 Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix because the car seems to perform well on the streets of the Principality.

Saturday: Williams drivers will aim for points in Monaco

Valtteri Bottas (no.77) – 13th and 13th

The Finn had hoped for better qualifications but encountered some issues with the Pirelli tires. However, he remains confident for the race: « As a team, it was not the optimal result. The problem we encountered was getting the front tires up to temperature. The car felt good, but I didn’t have the grip I wanted. We need to work on trying to fix that for tomorrow. I’m optimistic about scoring some points even if they are a few places ahead, and anything can happen in Monaco. »

Felipe Massa (No. 19) – 14th and 16th

While he was qualified for Q2, Massa saw his qualifications stop in Q1. Even though he’s disappointed, he prefers to move forward and will aim for points tomorrow: « I did everything I could in the first part but in the end, Ericsson hit me and that ruined my qualification. I was hoping for a good position today because the car seemed good; it would have been a nice fight to get into the top 10, not easy, but possible. I’m disappointed and tomorrow it’s going to be a challenge but with this car, points are still possible. »
