Sunday: Grosjean places his Lotus in the points in Monaco
Pastor Maldonado did not see the checkered flag after having to retire early in the race due to a yet unidentified problem. Romain Grosjean also encountered some mishaps but finished the race in the points, which delights him.
Romain Grosjean (No. 8) – 8th
The Frenchman didn’t have an easy race but is thrilled to see the checkered flag and to score some points: « It’s great to finish the race here for the first time in my career and it’s nice to score some points as well. This Sunday started badly for us with a puncture for me on the first lap after Sutil hit me. We switched to the soft tires but it was impossible to overtake so we went back to the super-softs. »
Pastor Maldonado (n°13) – Retirement
The Venezuelan experienced a problem with his power unit during the formation lap and had to quickly step out, but he still doesn’t know what caused it. He is disappointed because he was hoping for a good race: « We don’t yet know exactly what happened. The engine stopped after 30 seconds. When we did laps before setting up on the grid, the car and the power unit were working very well. We need to work to find out what the problem was. It’s disappointing and I was expecting a good race, we had a good strategy. I love this circuit where I have performed well in the past. We worked hard on performance and reliability but today it didn’t happen. »
