Sunday: Bianchi brings Marussia their first points
At the end of a race where he benefited from the retirements or mistakes of the drivers in front of him, Jules Bianchi scored his first points in F1 thanks to a Marussia that was more competitive than usual as well. The Frenchman also brought the first points to the Russian team. Max Chilton's race, on the other hand, was more complicated.
Jules Bianchi (No. 17) – 9th
After a magnificent race by the Frenchman, he managed to finish in the top 10, thus scoring his first points and Marussia’s first in F1, which makes him happier than ever: « What a race and what a result for the whole team. I am incredibly happy, but first of all, I must say that all the credit goes to everyone at Marussia for making this possible. No one knows the amount of work and determination put into the races, so today I am delighted to have helped them achieve their long-standing goal of scoring their first points. Having accomplished this with them makes me very proud. »
Max Chilton (No. 4) – 14th
The Briton hoped for a better race but is delighted with the first points scored by the Russian team at the 2014 Monaco Grand Prix: « I’m very proud to be part of something so special today. For a small team to achieve such a result is a huge boost for the future. Of course, I have mixed emotions because everything that could have gone wrong for me today did. But that’s motorsport and I know I’ll have a chance to score points for the team one day. Congratulations to everyone and now I’m really motivated for Montreal. »
