Sunday: Both McLaren drivers in the points in Monaco
Jenson Button managed to make it into the top 10 at the finish of the 2014 Monaco Grand Prix in Formula 1, as did Kevin Magnussen who picked up the last point available even though he would have hoped for more.
Jenson Button (No.22) – 6th
The Briton felt like he was experiencing a typical race in the Principality of Monaco this afternoon, full of twists and turns: « It was a typical Monaco Grand Prix – it was a bit chaotic on the track; the drivers were making mistakes; there were cars everywhere; you had to stay focused; stay in the pack, and save your tires, using them when necessary. »
Button hoped for a little more but was unable to pass Hülkenberg’s Force India to score more points at the finish: During my entire last stint, I was saving my tires and found myself behind Kevin. Then it was about driving at my own pace. I couldn’t pass Nico [Hülkenberg] at the end – he was struggling with his tires, but every time I attacked, I also suffered, so I couldn’t overtake.
Kevin Magnussen (No. 20) – 10th
The Dane could have aimed for better than 10th place in Monaco, but he wants to stay optimistic and focus on the positives: « Even though many things went wrong for us – waiting because of traffic during my pit stop, the unsafe release ahead of me in the pits, and the engine problem – I can say that our car is really good. That’s the real positive; it may be difficult to see from the outside, but things are moving forward within the team. »
