McLaren and Red Bull reach an agreement for Dan Fallows
As McLaren threatened to take legal action to prevent Dan Fallows from returning to Red Bull, an amicable agreement was ultimately reached between the two teams.
As we had thought when this transfer was revealed, McLaren and Red Bull did not want to get lawyers involved and waste precious time and money around the case of engineer Dan Fallows.
The bottom line is that Dan Fallows was supposed to have a deal with McLaren. Ultimately, during his leave period between the two positions, he changed his decision as an opportunity arose in Milton Keynes, with the departure of Peter Pedromou, heading to… Woking.
The leaders of the two teams therefore decided to sit around a table to resolve the issue. Thus, Christian Horner agreed with Ron Dennis during the Canadian Grand Prix to find a solution that could satisfy all parties. The Red Bull leader stated to *Autosport*: “I shook hands with Mr. Dennis, who is a gentleman and a man of his word. This means we have an agreement.”
If no one wanted to publicly announce the details of the agreement, it is highly likely that Red Bull has agreed to release its aerodynamics director earlier than expected, although his contract was supposed to run until January 1, 2015. This allows McLaren to benefit from a significant reinforcement while they need to review the entire architecture of their car for next year, as they will be switching to a new Honda engine block instead of Mercedes.
At the same time, Red Bull will be able to ensure the presence of Dan Fallows as they have to implement the transition towards the gradual withdrawal of Adrian Newey, who will focus on other projects within Red Bull.
