Saturday: Kobayabashi and Ericsson see improvements for Caterham

Kamui Kobayashi (No. 10) – 19th and 20th

According to the Japanese driver, changes to the set-up have allowed him to get closer to his direct competitors, and he believes these improvements will be even more noticeable on other circuits. He states: Since the change of set-up worked well in Austria, one of the least aero-sensitive tracks, I think it will work even better on tracks like Silverstone that rely much more on aero performance, it’s a big plus for the team on track and the factory.

Thanks to this change, he believes he has done one of his best qualifying laps of the season and that the race will be close with a group of cars similar to his.

Marcus Ericsson (No. 9) – 20th and 22nd [21st on the grid]

The Swede noticed the same improvements as his teammate with a car offering better traction and an improved balance, which makes the F1 easier to drive.

In Q1, he was disappointed not to have completed a fast lap with three good sectors, which placed him in last position. He believes he has good reasons to be hopeful for the race: « We are good with a full tank of fuel and I think we deserve a bit of luck, so let’s hope it comes tomorrow. »
