Saturday: Hülkenberg and Pérez aim for points for Force India
The two Force India drivers will rely on a good race pace and a reserve of new tires to finish in the points on Sunday.
Sergio Pérez (no.11) – 15th and 11th [16th on the grid]
The Mexican could not achieve the perfect lap he was hoping for. He states: « It’s a very difficult circuit and we struggled to get the tires to work at their maximum, but I don’t think it will be a problem tomorrow. »
Despite the five-place penalty, he will do what he can to finish in the points. He is contemplating the race: « The first lap will be important and strategy will be crucial to achieve a good result as overtaking seems difficult here. We have a lot of tires available for his race, so we should try to use them to our advantage. »
Nico Hülkenberg (n°27) – 11th and 10th
The German is looking forward to tomorrow’s show, even though his best lap was canceled for exceeding track limits. He explains: « At the end of the day, losing that lap only changed the result by a few places, so I’m still well positioned for the race. It’s been a long time since Formula 1 has been here, so there remain many unanswered questions before the race. We don’t know the different strategies or the behavior of the tires, but recently we have shown that we have a very strong car in the race. Tomorrow, points will be our goal. »
