Saturday: Force India well placed with Hülkenberg 4th and Perez 7th
Following good strategic choices, Force India places Hülkenberg on the second row. Perez is more divided as he believes he could have done better than 7th if he hadn't made a mistake in his last flying lap.
Sergio Perez (No. 11) – 15th and 7th
The Mexican pilot’s feelings are mixed between the joy of reaching Q3 and the disappointment of not fully capitalizing on the opportunities presented. He regrets: “We were third until the last lap, but when I went out for a final run, I went a bit wide at turn 12 and lost all the temperature from my tires. I also had to let a few cars pass, which was a big problem for me. Otherwise, I’m sure we would have improved enough to stay on the first two rows. It’s a shame because we were really making the tires work well until that point and had taken advantage of the conditions.” He then continues on a more optimistic note: “Nevertheless, it’s a very positive result and we should be able to convert it into a good race and lots of points. At Silverstone, it is very difficult to overtake, and track position is very important, so I am confident from that perspective.”
Nico Hülkenberg (n°27) – 14th and 4th
The German secures a nice fourth place on the grid by being in the right place at the right time and with a bit of luck. He explains: « The track conditions were very changeable at the end of Q3, I’ve never seen a track dry so quickly. There were a few raindrops in the middle of the session, but on my last lap, it was completely dry. »
He considers the race: « The fourth position puts us in a good situation for tomorrow, but it’s hard to know exactly where we stand in terms of race pace. We have certainly made some progress with the car balance since yesterday with some adjustments, and there was much less wind today, which played in our favor. It’s an interesting grid that will hopefully provide an exciting race for the fans. »
