Interwetten does a two-race stint with Lotus
Since the beginning of the season, the sponsor on the Lotus pit walls changes almost every race as Genii Capital tries to offer increased visibility to its various partners. For Germany and Hungary, a new company, Interwetten, is making its debut.
However, the links between the two companies are not that new: Interwetten has long been a major sponsor of the Charouz team in Formula Renault 3.5, which is now called… Lotus and also has its color code! The leaders of both structures know each other very well.
The presence of the sports betting site’s logo at the German Grand Prix is also not a surprise as it is at the heart of its commercial strategy: while it already has its license in the Schleswig-Holstein region, it is currently in the process of finalizing the procedure to obtain a license for the entire German territory. Being visible to the thousands of German spectators present is therefore a good way to prepare for its entry into this new market.
Werner Becher, the spokesperson for the site’s board of directors, stated: “For us, an international player with a long tradition and passion for motorsports, these two races offer us the ideal platform to showcase our brand under the spotlight, both in Europe and internationally.”
The presence of Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado’s single-seaters on the docks will also result in a competition for the Germans, allowing them to attend the Hungarian Grand Prix next week as a VIP guest of the team.
