Saturday: Valtteri Bottas returns to the front row with Williams
Valtteri Bottas equaled his best F1 qualifying by finishing just behind the poleman, Nico Rosberg. He is ahead of his teammate, Felipe Massa, by one position. The team therefore hopes to score big points tomorrow.
Valtteri Bottas (No. 77) – 5th and 2nd
The Finnish driver is delighted to have achieved a very good qualifying in Germany while being ideally prepared for the race: « The car performed very well today and it is ready for the race. As a team, we are thrilled with the result. My last lap was almost perfect. So I can’t be disappointed with my session. »
For tomorrow’s race, the goal is clearly the podium, especially with Lewis Hamilton’s grid penalty: The Mercedes are still a bit faster than us but we will work hard to get ahead, even if it will be difficult. The goal for tomorrow is to stay ahead of the Ferraris and the Red Bulls. Let’s hope that the cooler temperatures forecasted for tomorrow will work in our favor.
Felipe Massa (No. 19) – 4th and 3rd
After a fine qualification, Felipe Massa hopes he can finally deliver tomorrow, after a series of incidents that ruined some great races in previous weekends: « It was a very good qualification for us. I didn’t manage a perfect lap but we are second and third. So, we can’t complain. Tomorrow’s race will be difficult, which made today’s qualification more important. I’m very happy with the result. Let’s hope we can keep moving forward and have a great day tomorrow. »
