Saturday: Bianchi places his Marussia in front of Maldonado and Caterham F1

Marussia's main objective was achieved as Jules Bianchi managed to outperform the two Caterhams during the German Grand Prix Formula 1 qualifying. He even recorded a better time than Pastor Maldonado. As for Max Chilton, he couldn't do better than 21st due to limited running in FP3.

Saturday: Bianchi places his Marussia in front of Maldonado and Caterham F1

Jules Bianchi (No. 17) – 17th and 18th

The Frenchman from Marussia expressed satisfaction with his session in Germany: « I think we did a good job today. So I’m pretty happy. During my second fast lap, I made a small mistake and lost a tenth or two. Apart from that, I think we got the most out of the car. I’m ahead of those I needed to be ahead of and was close to Sutil. So I think we can have a good race from there. The weather has been challenging today and it could be as well, for different reasons. »

Max Chilton (No. 4) – 22nd and 21st

The German weekend has been quite complicated so far for the Briton, clearly dominated by his teammate. Technical issues also prevented him from fully understanding the tires before qualifying. Therefore, he is reasonably happy with his time: “I’m happy with my work today. It’s not the result we wanted, but given that I only ran with the super soft tires this morning, it’s maybe not so bad. We had an electronic problem in FP3, which cost me half the session. So we managed well, even though it’s a bit frustrating because the car had a lot more potential.”

He is therefore confident about the race: “I am certain that we can do better tomorrow but, obviously, we will have to see what the weather has in store for us.”
