Saturday: New disappointment for Romain Grosjean and Lotus in Belgium
The rain could have allowed Romain Grosjean and Lotus to stand out, but it wasn't the case: the Frenchman had to settle for 15th place. It's still better than Pastor Maldonado, who ended his session in Q1 with the 17th time.
Pastor Maldonado (No. 13) – 17th and 17th
The Venezuelan did not manage to escape the Q1 trap: « It was quite difficult at the beginning of the session, but then the track improved consistently during Q1. We switched to a second set of intermediates and pushed hard, even with a spin during one of my laps, but we didn’t manage to achieve the time we wanted. »
Romain Grosjean (n°8) – 16th and 15th
The Frenchman was expecting another tough weekend. He wasn’t disappointed in that regard: Spa is a circuit where you already need to be brave on the dry. On the wet, it’s even more fun. The 15th place is quite disappointing. We managed to get into Q2 but we were one of the slowest cars in the session. We knew that the conditions in Q1 would favor us slightly more than in Q2 due to the volume of rain on the track.
In these conditions, all he can do is hope that the conditions will work in his favor during the race, but the points seem once again out of reach.
