Sunday: Improvement at Caterham, Lotterer retires quickly

André Lotterer (No. 45) – Withdrawal

For his first race, the German Caterham driver did not see the checkered flag as the race ended very quickly.

He states: « Unfortunately, I didn’t even have the chance to sweat. I was really hoping for a good race and got a good start, but then I went a bit wide at turn 17 and suddenly lost power. The team and Renault will have to investigate tonight to see what happened. »

Despite this withdrawal, he retains some positives from his first Formula 1 Grand Prix: « I’m happy with my race weekend, I didn’t make any mistakes and I did a reasonably good job. Of course, it would have been fantastic to finish the race and do the whole Grand Prix, but it’s still an incredible weekend. »

Marcus Ericsson (No.9) – 17th

The Swedish driver’s race was reduced to a battle with Max Chilton’s Marussia. He recounted his race: « I had a very decent start, but I was a bit unlucky at the first corner and didn’t gain any positions. However, I kept up my momentum after Eau Rouge and managed to overtake Chilton at turn 5 […] It wasn’t easy to keep him behind me, but that’s what I managed to do for most of the race. Unfortunately, he overtook me with only two laps to go, which was of course very frustrating since it would have been nice to beat him. »

He gives a relatively positive assessment: « With the performance we had set for ourselves this weekend, I think we can be satisfied with our race. I am happy with my work and that of the team, and now we just have to work even harder to develop the car and make progress. »
