Sunday: Toro Rosso in the points with Daniil Kvyat at Spa
The team from Faenza scores two points thanks to a very spirited Daniil Kvyat during the Belgian Grand Prix of F1. Jean-Eric Vergne, on the other hand, complains about a car lacking performance.
Jean-Eric Vergne (No. 25) – 11th
The future ex-Toro Rosso driver did not have a good race with an underperforming car. He explains: « The start wasn’t great. Some cars were already overtaking me on the straight line and there was nothing I could do to defend myself. It’s a bit frustrating to be stuck in traffic, with tires that didn’t last very long and suffering from a lack of performance. We now have to look at all the data to see if there’s something we can do to come back to Monza in better conditions. We’re not far from the points but we need to clarify several things to have a clean weekend and score some points for our home Grand Prix. »
Daniil Kvyat (No. 26) – 9th
The Russian is satisfied to bring his car into the points: « It was a good and tough race, especially at the end when I was defending my position against Hülkenberg who was on new soft tires. It was quite thrilling since I had to manage my tires while fighting to keep the 10th place [which became 9th place after Magnussen’s penalty]. The car’s handling was good, and I was quite happy that the weather stayed dry. »
He sums up his Belgian Grand Prix: « Overall, it was a positive weekend, where we were able to improve step by step and I am happy to bring back [two points] from this race. I look forward to getting back in the car in two weeks when we are in Monza. »
