Friday: Lotus Sinks Even Deeper, Grosjean and Maldonado Save Face
Friday, Charles Pic slipped into the cockpit of the E22 to work on the aerodynamics of a still stubborn F1. In the afternoon, Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado could do no better than 18th and 20th. Enstone is sinking further into disarray.
Romain Grosjean (No. 8) – 20th (FP2)
The Franco-Swiss is not surprised by today’s result: « We had a few small issues – a few small details we can work on to improve the car and go in the right direction, even if it doesn’t mean we will be significantly faster. We tried a new front wing today and new fins on the car, and we will experiment with something else in FP3 tomorrow. We will work hard to improve the car, as usual, to prepare for the qualifying session and try to get the best possible result. »
Pastor Maldonado (n°13) – 18th and 18th
The Venezuelan declares himself satisfied with the balance of his F1: « The balance of the car was correct today, even if the different aerodynamic levels are a challenge for us. Our pace seemed more consistent and competitive with a lot of fuel; hopefully, it will allow us to have a good race. There are overtaking opportunities here in Monza, and if you manage your tires correctly, it’s possible to gain positions. But we still have a lot of work to do tomorrow morning and aim for the best possible performance in qualifying. »
