Saturday: Force India bogged down, Hülkenberg misses Q3, Pérez only 10th
The qualification was difficult for Sahara Force India. Nico Hülkenberg didn't manage to get through Q1. Sergio Pérez didn't do much better in 10th position.
Sergio Pérez (#11) – 13th and 10th
The Mexican is not satisfied with his result in qualifying even though he doesn’t think he could have done better than ninth. He specifies: « If we look at our performance yesterday, our race pace should be good, but there aren’t many options to choose from with this strategy. I think we are in a position to have a good race tomorrow. Anything can happen on this track and I’m confident we can score good points. »
Nico Hülkenberg (No. 27) – 10th and 14th (13th on the grid)
Due to traffic reasons during his setup lap, the German wasn’t able to complete a lap as fast as he would have liked. He explains: « Everyone was slowing down. So I had to slow down and lost tire temperature and pressure, and therefore couldn’t improve my time. Additionally, my first stint in Q2 wasn’t good enough. So we missed Q3. It was a battle today, and the car felt a bit unstable. »
Like his teammate, he hopes to use his race pace to climb up the ranks: « However, we can still have a good race. If I can get a good start and gain a few places in the first lap, we have every chance of scoring some points. »
