Williams will retain Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas for 2015

Usually, Monza is where Ferrari announces its decisions regarding its drivers. But this year, the concerns were more about the future of Luca di Montezemolo, and the official line from the team is that both its drivers, Fernando Alonso and Kimi Räikkönen, are under contract for 2015. Move along, there’s nothing to see here. Even though there are increasing rumors that the Spaniard has signed with McLaren…

On the other hand, the situation is much simpler for Williams. The team has decided to call a press conference in their motorhome at the Italian circuit to announce that they have decided to renew their confidence in their current two drivers. This is not surprising for Valtteri Bottas, who has already been on four podiums during the season. Moreover, he has been part of the Williams fold since his GP3 years, and it is unlikely that they would want to let him go so easily.

As for Felipe Massa, he seems to be revitalized compared to his years at Ferrari. He could even have won the Canadian Grand Prix. Furthermore, he receives support from Banco do Brasil, which certainly can’t hurt the team’s finances.

On the other hand, it should be noted that it was Sir Frank Williams who made the statement and not his daughter Claire, even though she is now the team director:« I am delighted to confirm that Felipe and Valtteri will race for Williams in 2015. It is a pleasure to work with Felipe, and he combines pace and experience. We have known for years that Valtteri is a very special talent, and with the FW36, we have given him a car capable of showcasing his skills. »
