Friday: Hülkenberg and Perez work hard at Force India
Satisfied with the work done this Friday, Nico Hülkenberg knows that he will need to perform well in qualifying. Meanwhile, Sergio Pérez hopes to gain a few tenths before a crucial qualifying session in Singapore.
Nico Hülkenberg (No. 27) – 12th and 9th
The German was able to carry out the planned work today: « Completing all these laps without major issues while ticking all the boxes of our program was a good starting point. It was a usual Friday from that perspective, even though I’m not completely comfortable with the car yet. We still have some work to do, trying to understand the car a bit better and fine-tune the balance before qualifying. Tomorrow, we need to extract more performance from the car. »
Sergio Pérez (No. 11) – 10th and 8th
Like his teammate, the Mexican was able to complete his program and thinks that qualifying will be crucial: « Initial indications suggest that it will probably be a very tight fight in qualifying; we need to continue working to find two or three tenths because the starting position will play a big role in the race. On Sunday, having the right strategy and managing the tires will be important. We ran with both compounds today and were able to assess their performance, but we know that the heat will play a big role, so our priority will be to be gentle with the tires. »
