Saturday: Magnussen did his maximum, Button will aim for points at McLaren
The Singapore circuit did not seem to favor the McLarens, which finished 9th and 11th. However, within the Grey team, they believe that all is not lost for the race.
Kevin Magnussen (No. 20) – 12th and 9th
The Dane is a bit frustrated because he feels like he has done his best, and the car is not fast enough on this track. He insists on the need to continue developing his car: « We will do our best as usual, and I will fight as hard as I can. I’m a race driver, so when I see an opportunity to gain places by taking some risks, then why not? We don’t have much to lose, so we might as well try to maximize what we have. I will do everything I can in the race, nothing less. With a bit of luck, we will collect some valuable points. It’s frustrating because we are doing well, but we are just not fast enough. »
Jenson Button (No. 22) – 13th and 11th
After a mistake at the hairpin, the world champion didn’t manage to go further than Q2. However, he thinks it’s not too damaging: « It’s disappointing not to make it to Q3, especially considering the significant progress made in Q1. In my last run in Q2, I lost quite a bit of time at the hairpin: I locked the front wheels and went wide, losing two or three tenths. After that, I was still going to be very close, but even if I had made it to the top 10, I think it would have been difficult to progress much further in the hierarchy of Q3. »
