Sunday: Perez and Hülkenberg in the points for Force India
Through a good strategy and probably aided by a strong race pace, the Indian team places both of its cars in the points during the Singapore F1 Grand Prix with a very good comeback from Sergio Perez.
Sergio Perez (No. 11) – 7th
Following a hectic race for him after losing his front wing during a questionable maneuver by Sutil, the Mexican finishes in a fine seventh place: « I was very happy with our performance today and, more importantly, we finished ahead of our direct competitors. The ones in front of me at the end had significant tire degradation, and I suffered from it too. When I caught up with the group in front of me, I also didn’t have much grip, which made each overtake a bit more difficult. We managed our tires perfectly, and climbing from 15th to seventh place was a well-deserved reward. »
Nico Hülkenberg (No. 27) – 9th
The German was satisfied with his team, which had both cars in the points at the finish.
He details his race: « It’s always a difficult race, especially from a strategic point of view, and maybe we could have done even better today. After the safety car, I had to do a 30-lap stint on softs, and like most of the cars ahead of me, I lacked grip towards the end of the race. In hindsight, it would have been even better to make an additional stop for fresh tires, and we probably could have finished even higher, but it’s always a tough decision for the team with the setup we had at the time. »
