Sunday: Ericsson beats both Marussias for Caterham F1
While Kamui Kobayashi retired early due to an MGU-H issue, his Scandinavian teammate finished ahead of both Marussias for the first time this season at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Marcus Ericsson (No. 9) – 15th
The young Swede was elated at the finish as he had the luxury of beating both Marussia cars: « We can be very happy since we have beaten our closest rivals fair and square after struggling quite a bit to keep up with them this weekend. We optimized our performance today. We followed an excellent strategy and I didn’t make any mistakes. »
Kamui Kobayashi (No. 10) – Withdrawal (MGU-H)
The race for the very frustrated Japanese was extremely brief as he couldn’t even finish the formation lap: « During the formation lap, all of a sudden I had no power and then I felt as if something was burning. Then I suddenly lost the brakes and decided to stop the car because it was dangerous and there was nothing to be done. »
