Sunday: Marussia F1 behind Caterham due to reliability issues
In the race, Jules Bianchi and Max Chilton both experienced minor mechanical issues that ultimately prevented them from finishing ahead of Marcus Ericsson's Caterham.
Jules Bianchi (No.17) – 16th
The Frenchman experienced a difficult race even though he wants to find something positive in getting closer to the Lotus and Sauber teams: « It’s disappointing not to be able to pass Ericsson due to brake duct issues. It was a demanding race since there were many factors to consider, particularly the brakes. The safety car after Perez’s crash bunched everyone up, so any advantage was lost, especially since we were struggling with the prime tires. »
Max Chilton (No. 4) – 17th
The race started poorly from the grid for the Englishman who had to go back through the pits before the start. Then, despite a good start, he was never able to overtake Marcus Ericsson, somewhat hindered by Nico Rosberg’s damaged Mercedes: « I made my first stop and had to come back shortly after when I suffered a puncture due to a valve issue on the front right wheel. This disrupted our strategy as we had to switch to the soft tires earlier than planned. The problem worsened when the safety car came out mid-race at a point where I couldn’t benefit from it, which penalized us for the last stint on options. »
