At the end of Q3, the Australian explained that it wasn’t easy to consistently make a fast lap: « For a new track, there is a lot of grip but at the same time it’s hard to read; it’s not a natural feeling we have behind the wheel, but it’s fun and it’s a new challenge. We were trying to get the front tires to work to extract grip, and on the last lap, I lost the rear. We are better than yesterday but I was hoping for better than 7th place. »
Sebastian Vettel (No. 1) – 10th and 11th [10th on the grid]
Not comfortable in the Austrian F1, the world champion remained stuck in Q2: « It was very difficult, I think we regressed compared to this morning and we hoped the rear would be much stronger and that the track would improve more. The car was nervous, so I couldn’t keep the speed in the corners, I lost the rear a lot throughout the lap and consequently, I wasn’t fast enough. »
