Sunday: Ericsson believed in it for Caterham, Kobayashi abandons

Kamui Kobayashi (n°10) – Abandonment

It was another disappointing weekend for the Japanese driver who explains: « when I heard on the radio that I had to return to the pit, I thought it was a normal stop, but then I was told I had to retire. It was a bit of a surprise for me and initially I didn’t know the reason why I had to retire. The team analyzed the telemetry and it was clear that my brakes were overheating too much. It’s a shame to end a weekend like this, but I couldn’t do much more today. »

Marcus Ericsson (No. 9) – 19th

After fighting with the Lotus and Sauber teams at the start of the race, even managing to build a gap in the first stint, the young Swede couldn’t make his second set of tires work. He then pitted a second time, but the race was already lost for him.

He states: « I am a little disappointed because I felt so good in the first stint, I think we could have achieved a better result. Overall, it was a good weekend again, we are constantly improving and we showed that we could compete with Lotus and Sauber, not only today during the first part of the race but also yesterday in qualifying. We need to build on this for the future and I am looking forward to the last three races eagerly. »
