Puma extends its partnership with Mercedes
One after another, Mercedes' sponsors are extending their association with the new world champions. This week, it's Puma.
The Mercedes F1 team and Puma have been partners since the 2012 season, and their three-year contract was set to expire at the end of the current season. Given the success that the Brackley team is experiencing this season, it would have been surprising if Puma did not wish to extend its presence. The rates have certainly been revised upwards to reflect the increase in media exposure enjoyed by the German team.
Puma’s presence at Mercedes is twofold since the Kering group subsidiary is both the supplier of suits and shoes for Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, as well as the producer and distributor of the brand’s merchandise. Consequently, the sales of these items are naturally seeing a strong increase as the trophies pile up.
Toto Wolff, the team principal, commented on this extension: « Puma has excellent skills in the design, development, and distribution of high-quality products that convey our brand identity. The partnership is very important for Mercedes AMG Petronas, and we are delighted that it will continue in the years to come. »
