Apsley becomes the tailor for Sahara Force India
Prestigious brands seem increasingly interested in having a presence in F1: Sahara Force India has thus reached an agreement with the tailor Apsley.
When Bernie Ecclestone claimed last year that he was more interested in septuagenarians wearing Rolexes than in young people, it caused a public outcry.
But it must be noted that few mass-market brands are present in the F1 paddocks. On the other hand, luxury brands are numerous, starting with the watch brand previously mentioned.
Thus, Apsley joins brands like Hackett (Williams) or Hugo Boss, which has just moved from McLaren to Mercedes. Arshad Mahmood, the general manager of the British brand, commented on the announcement: « Apsley Tailors is proud of its sporting associations, and we are pleased to continue our involvement in the world of motorsport by providing custom clothing to Sahara Force India. »
If the businessman of Pakistani origin mentions continuing his presence in Formula 1, it’s because his brand was the supplier for the prestigious fashion show at the Amber Lounge Festival during the last Monaco Grand Prix. They had provided suits for all the drivers present at this event, one of the most glamorous of the season.
Apsley is also present in many other sports as it is very active in the English football championship, with associations with Fulham and West Ham, but also in rugby with the Saracens and Sydney Roosters clubs. The tailor is also a partner of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in Qatar.
