Bruno Senna joins McLaren
The year Honda once again becomes McLaren's engine supplier in F1, the endurance team from Woking has decided to bring back another famous name: Bruno Senna will thus become an official McLaren GT driver.
The magic trio was thus achieved by the Brazilian driver: he therefore managed to be hired by the three teams that made his uncle Ayrton’s legend, as he also drove for Lotus and Williams.
It is also interesting that he refers to it himself during his official announcements. Thus in 2011, when he became a reserve driver for Lotus, he stated: « It is probably the most attractive livery in the history of Formula 1. The black and gold was magnificent in the 80s, when my uncle was racing. And it still gives a great look on the new car. And of course, wearing the same colors as my uncle gives me a very special feeling. »
This time too, even if he won’t be driving the new McLaren-Honda in F1, he doesn’t fail to highlight that Ayrton Senna shone and won his three world championship titles at Woking: « It is a great honor for me to join McLaren, a team with which my uncle had so much success, and which is also one of the most famous names in motorsport. 2015 is going to be a great year for everyone at McLaren and it’s exciting to be a part of it. »
As an official driver for McLaren, he will actively participate in the development of the new 650 GT3 and 650S and will have a competitive program, which will be detailed in the coming weeks.
