Silanna moves to Sauber

If the collaboration between Silanna and Caterham had begun in a relatively limited manner, with a presence on the side of the front wing, it expanded over the course of the season as its logo became visible on the radiators, one of the most prominent locations.

Nevertheless, this spot at Sauber is occupied by Banco do Brasil, to realize the broad support granted by the Brazilian bank to Felipe Nasr. The semiconductor company will therefore settle for two slightly more discreet locations, namely the side of the front wing and the rear wing. However, as it is one of the Swiss team’s only sponsors, its visibility is no less important.

On the other hand, it is amusing to note that Rob Lobban, the general manager of the brand, simply made exactly the same remarks as during his announcement with Caterham, namely: « Caterham and F1 in general represent the pinnacle of motorsport. We are therefore very proud and excited to be associated with both. Silanna’s goal is to bring breakthrough technologies and products to market. Working with Caterham gives us the opportunity to get the message and our name under the spotlight associated with F1. » He simply replaced Caterham with Sauber…

But the communicators went even further in optimizing the press release, having Monika Kaltenborn, the director of Sauber, declare the same comments as Cyril Abiteboul, then her counterpart at Caterham: « Silanna is a company operating at the pinnacle of modern technology, and we are thrilled to have them join us as an official partner. There are obvious synergies between our two companies, and we are already working to identify specific areas where we can learn from Silanna and wish to integrate elements of their technological expertise into our track challenge. »

Let’s still hope that the Hinwil team does not meet the same fate as its now defunct competitor from Leafield…
