Barcelona private test program on May 12 and 13, 2015
Formula 1 will have its first private testing sessions of the season this week at the Barcelona circuit. It's an opportunity for teams to test some new developments and for test or development drivers to get some track time.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, May 12 and 13, on the Barcelona track freshly reset after the last Grand Prix won last weekend by Nico Rosberg, Formula 1 will undergo one of its scheduled private testing sessions during the season.
Held just after the start of the European season and a week before heading to the legendary Monaco track, these two days will allow teams to test some new developments, some of which were already seen during the Spanish Grand Prix weekend.
But new drivers will also make their appearance behind the wheel for the first time this season. For example, Esteban Gutierrez will drive the Ferrari F15-T on Wednesday, while Alex Lynn will slip into the Mercedes-powered Williams. The Frenchman Pierre Gasly will be entrusted with the Red Bull on the same day as well as the Toro Rosso the day before.
The British Nick Yelloly will make his first steps in Formula 1 with the Force India team, which will also give some track time to Esteban Ocon, who will replace Pascal Wehrlein, imposed as absent by Mercedes within the Indian team, as was already the case during pre-season test days. The German must therefore give up his place to the Frenchman.
The complete program can be viewed in the table below. Note that the Manor team has announced that it will not participate in these two days of testing.
