DMG Mori extends with Red Bull until 2017
Partners since 2004, the machine tool manufacturer DMG Mori and Red Bull have decided to extend their partnership until 2017.
We tend to forget that F1 is above all an industry, not only with engineers but also with machines capable of producing the necessary parts for the manufacture of the cars.
Red Bull has thus established a very long-term relationship with machine manufacturer DMG Mori, as explained by Christian Horner, the team director: « The renewal of the partnership with DMG Mori strengthens our long-standing relationship throughout our adventure in this sport. DMG Mori has worked very hard to help us improve our manufacturing tool over the past ten years. I am delighted that we are able to continue this partnership in a new era for this sport. It is a new example that demonstrates that Infiniti Red Bull Racing is perpetually seeking the expertise of world-class suppliers to help us improve our operations. »
The extension for two additional seasons is logical since the Japanese machines are at the core of Red Bull’s infrastructure, and replacing them with competitors’ machines would be very costly. This kind of partnership is therefore long-term, as demonstrated by the six-year association between Sauber and Mitsubishi Electric.
But it can also be noted that the ties formed in one category can extend to other disciplines. Thus, DMG Mori is one of Porsche’s main partners in endurance racing, where Red Bull continues to support Mark Webber.
