Bob Bell becomes a consultant for Manor

Bob Bell did not stay away from the paddock for very long since he only left Mercedes at the end of last season. He will not be employed full-time for the team as he becomes only a consultant, which allows him to maintain his independence in case an opportunity arises elsewhere.

This is not the first time the team has managed to gain the favor of a technical heavyweight in the paddock. We can recall that Marussia was the team that brought Pat Symonds out of his purgatory associated with the 2008 Singapore Crashgate affair. Three years later, they enlisted the services of the Briton as a consultant, before he returned to the top of the grid by joining Williams.

But Bob Bell is not the only one to join the small team. They also managed to convince Luca Furbatto, until now chief designer at Toro Rosso, to join their ranks in the same position. Manor also benefits from the bankruptcy of Caterham to bring in Gianluca Pisanello, who was in charge of engineering there. He will now be Manor’s chief engineer.

John Booth, the team director, can only be pleased with his reinforcements, whose experience will be key in guiding the young engineers who joined the team at the start of the season: « We are delighted to welcome Bob, Luca, and Gianluca to the team. It has been a challenging but rewarding start to our 2015 season. We are now able to find our rhythm, which allows us to look towards the future. »

This season can only be a transitional one for the team, which only has an updated version of last year’s car to comply with current regulations. With these reinforcements, the team will be able to quickly focus on next season’s car: « Even though we want to optimize our performance for the remainder of the 2015 season, we can also turn our attention to the next exciting chapter of our history: 2016 and beyond. »
