Red Bull returns to the podium with Daniil Kvyat and Daniel Ricciardo
For the first time this season, Red Bull experienced the joy of the podium as both of its drivers finished on the podium, which is a first for Daniil Kvyat.
Red Bull experienced a complicated start to the season but, like last year, the Milton Keynes firm enjoyed the joy of the podium at the Hungarian circuit. Although they didn’t win as they did last year, both cars were on the podium this time.
After a very good restart, Daniel Ricciardo even hoped to fight for the victory. But his collision with Nico Rosberg forced him to return to the pits, without too many consequences for him: « *It was a very lively race and I am very proud of it. I have mixed emotions but I am grateful to be on the podium. It’s a difficult year and having both cars on the podium is almost unreal. I attacked very hard during my last stint when I had new softs. The opportunity for victory presented itself. It’s really a shame we collided with Nico but I gave it my all on the track.* »
The satisfaction was obviously even greater for Daniil Kvyat, who stepped onto his first F1 podium: « I’m very happy with this result. It’s a great turnaround after such a chaotic race. During my first stint, I thought my race was over due to vibrations from my flat spot on the tire. But the car was very competitive in the last stint and we were able to finish very strong. »
The young Russian also took the time to honor the memory of Jules Bianchi: « I dedicate my race to Jules and his family. We lost a fantastic guy and our hearts and thoughts go out to him and his family. »
On the other hand, Christian Horner did not have a single word for his engine supplier Renault, which has nevertheless significantly improved its competitiveness…
