Toro Rosso: Franz Tost wants to keep James Key

After ten races, it is not absurd to claim that the STR10 is not far from the level of the Red Bull. Regarded as one of the best chassis on the grid, the cars driven by Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen have mainly encountered reliability issues. This does not prevent Franz Tost from describing the Toro Rosso on the official F1 website as “very competitive.”

Thus, he can only commend the investment and involvement of the technical management since its arrival in 2012: « James Key’s group has done a fantastic job. » The latter would then be key to the rise in power of the Faenza team.

Tost seems even more convinced that Key will be around for a long time: « Obviously, he attracts other teams. But fortunately, he has a contract with us, and I hope he will respect it. Why should he go elsewhere when he can have great years with Toro Rosso? Today, we are not at the limit of the team’s potential; we are still improving. Obviously, success never depends on just one person, but there will always be one who has everything under control, and James is surrounded by a very good technical group. Now, I hope he will stay with us to supervise his group and reap the success he deserves. »

The leader is also confident in the future of the organization, which will soon inaugurate its new building in Faenza, allowing the entire team staff to be gathered under one roof.

At mid-season, Toro Rosso is 7th with 31 points. Just a year ago, it had 17.
