Strong comeback for Daniil Kvyat in Belgium

Daniel Ricciardo had a great qualifying session, starting 5th on the grid, just like in 2014 when he ultimately won the Grand Prix. Battling with Sergio Perez and Sebastian Vettel, he could therefore hold hopes for big points in Belgium. « *I got off to a good start by moving up to 3rd and the race was going well. The balance of the car wasn’t ideal with the softs and I was struggling a bit but we hoped to come back with the mediums in the final stint.* »

But its mechanics had other ideas by stopping abruptly at the bus stop chicane: « We are not sure what happened and the team is analyzing what went wrong. I lost power in the chicane, everything stopped, including the steering wheel display. It seems to be an electrical issue but we will see what the investigation says. »

The team’s hopes now rested on Daniil Kvyat, who started 12th. He did not disappoint them, taking advantage of his fresh tires at the end of the race to climb to a final 4th place: « I had many overtaking opportunities and the car was behaving well. The team’s strategy to keep me out during the virtual safety car was the right one and we were able to have a very good final stint. »
