Romain Grosjean has made his decision for 2016

Romain Grosjean has a contract with Lotus that also includes the 2016 season. However, like Pastor Maldonado, if Renault were to buy the Enstone team, the Frenchman might leave. He nevertheless has significant support from Total, a historical partner of Renault, which might be inclined to have a French driver as a standard-bearer once again.

Another possibility for the Frenchman would be to take the risk of joining the new team, Haas. The advantage of such a move would be to become part of the Ferrari fold, with whom the American team has established significant ties. He would then be in an ideal position to join the Scuderia in 2017, upon Kimi Räikkönen’s retirement. However, it should be remembered that the Frenchman’s name was on the shortlist mentioned for next season, which did not prevent Ferrari from extending the Finnish driver’s contract.

Asked about the subject during Friday’s press conference, the Frenchman revealed that he had made his decision for the next season: « I’ve made my decision. Everything is clear in my head and I know what will happen in my future. But if you don’t mind, I won’t say more. »

When we had an exclusive interview with Günther Steiner, the director of the future team, he told us that he hoped to make his decision regarding his drivers by the end of September. The deadline is therefore rapidly approaching, and we should know more in the coming weeks.
