Double top 10 for Sahara Force India in Mexico

For the first time in his F1 career, Sergio Perez had the opportunity to drive in front of his home crowd. It was therefore important for him to show his best side to reward the enthusiasm of the tens of thousands of spectators who came to support him: « It was a great privilege for me to race at home today. I felt all the support from the fans. They gave me a lot of energy, and I am extremely motivated to give them something to celebrate. It’s the best way to reward them. I think I did a good job today, and we are in a good position for the race. »

The team had chosen to make only one attempt in Q3, but both drivers could do no better than 9th and 10th: « We tried to be the last on the track in Q3 to make the most of the track evolution. But in the end, it didn’t make a big difference. I think it was possible to be 8th, especially when we see the small gap with Max. »

As for Nico Hülkenberg, he wasn’t completely comfortable behind the wheel of his car: “I think we did almost everything we could. I wasn’t 100% confident in the car but in these conditions, my last lap was really good. Our pace over one lap is enough to make it into Q3, but I think our long-run pace is better. So I’m confident for tomorrow.”

The German will therefore be keen not to repeat the mistakes of the last races that cost him many points, especially compared to his teammate: It’s a new track. We don’t have much information, which leaves us with some questions for the race. Hopefully, it will end well for us. It would be a great reward for the fans because we can feel the love and attention we receive from this huge crowd.
