Sergio Perez creates a sensation for Sahara Force India in Abu Dhabi

Sergio Perez achieved the best qualification of his career as it is the fourth time in his career that he is starting from this position. Notably, it’s the second time this season, after the one at Spa-Francorchamps. It’s a sign that his car is currently in great form:

He could therefore only be pleased about it: « “The fourth place is a superb result for me. I am thrilled with our solid performance in qualifying. We made good decisions this weekend with the changes we made to the car. This led us in a very good direction.” »

The Mexican therefore has high ambitions for tomorrow’s race, even though he knows the task will be difficult: « The challenge for us tomorrow will be to try to keep very fast cars behind us, but I think we can gain a few places at the start. I have confidence in the car to really attack hard, and there is clearly the potential to do something great this weekend. »

However, Nico Hülkenberg was not able to achieve the same performance as his teammate. It is therefore regret that predominates for the German: « It was a good qualifying session for the team, even though I think I could have been higher on the grid. I was happier with my laps, especially the one in Q3. So finding myself in 7th position is actually a bit disappointing. »

That the Sahara Force India driver is disappointed by such a result clearly shows the progress made by the team, especially since the B evolution introduced at Silverstone. This leads Sergio Perez to say that he regrets the season is ending while his team is in great shape: “In a way, it’s really a shame that it’s the last race of the season because the car is performing very well right now and I’m having so much fun with it.”
